The paper investigates the system and the treatment of rhymes in the anonymous poem Cantari di Rinaldo, especially focusing on the names of the paladins, and it also highlights rhymes modifications in texts such as Cantari d’Aspramonte, Spagna, Inamoramento de Orlando by Boiardo, Morgante by Pulci, and Rinaldo by the younger Tasso. The high level of frequency of this type of rhymes corresponds to a long-held view about the iconic values of the sounds in the different parts of the textual strategy and the linguistic registers. The analysis of this type of rhymes allow us to identify precise rhetorical strategies wich are less apparent at first reading
