The paper aims to investigate cc. 4-5 of Augustine’s “De providentia dei” (= “sermo Dolbeau” 29), dedicated to the description of the human body’s order and the human being’s general structure, consisting of soul and body. Nearby some analogies with the description of human body in the second book of Cicero’s "De natura deorum" (133ss.), which can be located in Stoic tradition, in Augustine’s description, Platonic topics can also be seen. In the paper Augustine’s passage is compared with Apuleius’ “De Platone et eius dogmate” (1,13,207-16,215), in order to point out both analogies and differences between the two texts.
