Since 2000, the renewed excavations at Tell Atchana/Alalakh, under the direction of Kutlu A. Yener, opened a new season of discoveries in this Middle and Late Bronze Age ancient capital site. First surveyed in the 1930s by Robert Braidwood, the mound of Alalakh was then explored between 1936 and 1949, with a break during the II World War, by a British expedition led by C.L. Woolley. In spite of the outstanding results of the British expedition at the site, it was clear that much work had still to be done in order to understand the 2nd millennium BC city and its landscape.

Abstract
Since 2000, the renewed excavations at Tell Atchana/Alalakh, under the direction of Kutlu A. Yener, opened a new season of discoveries in this Middle and Late Bronze Age ancient capital site. First surveyed in the 1930s by Robert Braidwood, the mound of Alalakh was then explored between 1936 and 1949, with a break during the II World War, by a British expedition led by C.L. Woolley. In spite of the outstanding results of the British expedition at the site, it was clear that much work had still to be done in order to understand the 2nd millennium BC city and its landscape.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
