This paper analyzes the pottery assemblage from the palatial contexts excavated in area C at Karkemish between 2011 and 2014. The aim is to understand the degree to which either slow or abrupt socio-political changes occurred between Iron Age I and Iron Age III at the site could be reflected in the material culture. A substantial continuity in the ceramic shapes from the Neo Hittite to the Neo Assyrian occupations has been observed, while changes can be mostly detected through the quantitative occurrence of certain types.
