A modern tire contains up to 300 different components, both organic and inorganic. During the process of vulcanization, the mould provides the tire its final shape. For this reason mould cleaning takes an important role in tire production. Ultrasonic cleaning system represents the best solution to clean modern mould. Ultrasonic Mould Cleaning Systems (UMCS) is a complex technology that combines the use of ultrasound waves, high temperature and cleaning products. The standard FMECA quality tool was used in order to identify the causes of potential design criticalities, to find potential defects in the original tank design and to suggest possible re-design actions.
