The limits imposed by international laws on the levels of exposition of the population to magnetic fields require a careful evaluation of the field generated by electric power plants. This paper reports experimental results and numerical analysis for the evaluation of the stray magnetic field of a middle voltage, 1000 kVA transformer. The measurements were performed in an anechoic room, in short circuit condition along different directions in space. A numerical analysis based on two different approaches with 3D FEM is used to analyze the experimental results. The analysis shows very good agreement with the experimental results provided that a correct evaluation of the stray field generated by the bars is obtained.

Abstract
The limits imposed by international laws on the levels of exposition of the population to magnetic fields require a careful evaluation of the field generated by electric power plants. This paper reports experimental results and numerical analysis for the evaluation of the stray magnetic field of a middle voltage, 1000 kVA transformer. The measurements were performed in an anechoic room, in short circuit condition along different directions in space. A numerical analysis based on two different approaches with 3D FEM is used to analyze the experimental results. The analysis shows very good agreement with the experimental results provided that a correct evaluation of the stray field generated by the bars is obtained.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
