This paper presents a diagnostic technique for the detection of incipient electrical faults in a Doubly Fed Induction Machine (DFIM) used for variable speed generation. In this application the stator windings are directly connected to the grid, whereas a converter, which controls the rotor currents by means of a Field Oriented Control (FOC) scheme, supplies the rotor. The aim of this paper is to introduce a new diagnostic technique based on the analysis of the rotor inverter output voltages. In particular it will be shown that the frequency analysis of these signals leads to an effective diagnostic procedure. The presented system is suitable to be easily plugged in any existing FOC-DFIM drive system.

Abstract
This paper presents a diagnostic technique for the detection of incipient electrical faults in a Doubly Fed Induction Machine (DFIM) used for variable speed generation. In this application the stator windings are directly connected to the grid, whereas a converter, which controls the rotor currents by means of a Field Oriented Control (FOC) scheme, supplies the rotor. The aim of this paper is to introduce a new diagnostic technique based on the analysis of the rotor inverter output voltages. In particular it will be shown that the frequency analysis of these signals leads to an effective diagnostic procedure. The presented system is suitable to be easily plugged in any existing FOC-DFIM drive system.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
