This lecture, presented at a conference on cultural stereotypes, analyses the figure of “mestizo” in relation to the postcolonial studies in some of Faulkner’s novels. Its purpose is to explain in which ways the author avoids the stereotype of “Negro” and its connections to the utopian model of renewed relations of different identities according to the interpretation given by the Francophone writer Édouard Glissant.
Servendosi di alcuni concetti elaborati dai postcolonial studies, il presente contributo studia, all’occasione di un convegno sugli stereotipi culturali, come la figura del meticcio nei romanzi di Faulkner venga sottratta all’azione dello stereotipo del “negro” per essere ricondotta al modello utopistico di nuove relazioni identitarie dall’interpretazione dello scrittore francofono Édouard Glissant.
