This paper aims to explore the main modalities of reported speech present in the novel-reportage Territorio comanche (1994), by the Spanish writer Arturo Pérez-Reverte, and in its translation into Italian by Ilide Carmignani (1999). The analysis, focused on a novel about the Balkan war, will show how direct, indirect and mixed reported speeches allow the author to introduce the reader to the historical period and the characters of this Comanche territory, a land it is better not to venture in. The study also aims at explaining how this strategy allows the author to deepen the dynamics of the former Yugoslavia war, of which he offers a representation stripped of morality.

Abstract
This paper aims to explore the main modalities of reported speech present in the novel-reportage Territorio comanche (1994), by the Spanish writer Arturo Pérez-Reverte, and in its translation into Italian by Ilide Carmignani (1999). The analysis, focused on a novel about the Balkan war, will show how direct, indirect and mixed reported speeches allow the author to introduce the reader to the historical period and the characters of this Comanche territory, a land it is better not to venture in. The study also aims at explaining how this strategy allows the author to deepen the dynamics of the former Yugoslavia war, of which he offers a representation stripped of morality.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
