The aim of the first part of this paper is to draw attention to a few important wall paintings requiring conservation in Tibet and to the problem of conserving them after restoration. The second part raises the problem of the different conceptions and perceptions of Tibetan painting in the West and in Tibet, comparing Tibetan aesthetics with Western aesthetics in the appreciation of religious art.
