This paper is aimed at defending the use of translation in language learning using ICT and professional translation teaching and learning competence rather than using literary and decontextualized segments which was the principal defect of the traditional grammar-translation method. After having situated the question in its disciplinary framework (research on language teaching and learning as well as traductology) I will first explore the scientific background on the two roles oftranslation: as a tool and as a professional objective. Then I will briefly present the PHD research I've conducted about the role of ICT tool on both language and translation teaching/learning. At last I will try to identify some professional translation teaching practices that could be used to renew translation as a language teaching tool.

Abstract
This paper is aimed at defending the use of translation in language learning using ICT and professional translation teaching and learning competence rather than using literary and decontextualized segments which was the principal defect of the traditional grammar-translation method. After having situated the question in its disciplinary framework (research on language teaching and learning as well as traductology) I will first explore the scientific background on the two roles oftranslation: as a tool and as a professional objective. Then I will briefly present the PHD research I've conducted about the role of ICT tool on both language and translation teaching/learning. At last I will try to identify some professional translation teaching practices that could be used to renew translation as a language teaching tool.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
