Rift Valley Fever is an acute viral disease, as well as important zoonosis, trasmitted by mosquitoes. This transbundary disease is endemic in several african countries and according to OIE is a notifiable disease, due to its high-potential world-wide spread and also to its heavy consequences for health and animal productions, in Italy and in Europe. The study anlyze the risk factors that promote the disease spread, comparing african and italian epidemilogy. From this risk analysis can be seen as Rift Valley Fever represents a remarkable danger for Italy, both for public and animal health. Therefore it’s necessary to implement and to intensify alert and surveillance systems in the Mediterranean Basin, which is considered the main entrance door of the disease.
