After presenting the requirements and expectations of the AMBER-ULV project, tooling the virtual process for designing and preparing how to test the future vehicle is presented, based on the existing vehicle from EOS, called DANY. Since blending the regenerative and friction brakes is essential for the vehicle range, a hybrid braking technology and its controller are explored up-front the final vehicle is build. Firstly, the potential capabilities of the vehicle are evaluated with a CPU time efficient functional vehicle model. Secondly, the model is refined to include a technology of an ESC (Electric Stability Control) hydraulic braking circuit. Using this technology the hybrid braking controller feasibility, is demonstrated. The hybrid braking technology was found to be an elegant solution to be applied for an existing simple and cost efficient technology.
