This article explores, in the status questions of Clement of Alexandria’s doctrine of the soul, the relationship between Clements’s theology and his philosophy. Categories of Platonic psychology (protology, ethics, and eschatology) are used as a litmus test of topics and fields of research still open to investigation. The author’s perspective on the subject of the soul derives from studies by Heinrich Dörrie and his scholars.
