We present new VLBI data of the core of the giant radio galaxy 1144+35. New results confirm the detection of proper motion in the jet and counter-jet structures. Based on these new measurements, we derive the intrinsic jet velocity and orientation, estimate the epoch of the restarted activity, and correlate the source structure with the arcsecond core variability. The data suggest a recurrent radio activity in this galaxy with a very old large scale structure (> 900 kpc in size) and a recent activity in the radio core related to the VLBI jet which is expanding at the apparent velocity of 1.92c.

Abstract
We present new VLBI data of the core of the giant radio galaxy 1144+35. New results confirm the detection of proper motion in the jet and counter-jet structures. Based on these new measurements, we derive the intrinsic jet velocity and orientation, estimate the epoch of the restarted activity, and correlate the source structure with the arcsecond core variability. The data suggest a recurrent radio activity in this galaxy with a very old large scale structure (> 900 kpc in size) and a recent activity in the radio core related to the VLBI jet which is expanding at the apparent velocity of 1.92c.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
