This paper analyses the recent theatre performance of Luca Ronconi Odissea: doppio ritorno (Ferrara 2007), based on two different texts played simultaneously. These are Itaca that is a re-writing of Odysseus mythos by Botho Strauss and L'antro delle ninfe, an allegoric interpretation of Odyssea XIII 102-12 written by the neoplatonic philosopher Porphyrius (3rd AD). The topic of reception of classics in contemporary culture is focused through the perspective of this dramaturgic event
