This paper explores contact between English and Spanish in the US, which generates what is commonly defined as spanglish. Unlike many specialists, who regard this communication mode as a threat, we argue that a bilingual and bicultural society is a source of enrichment for any country and that education and the media can equip anybody with suitable language resources for different contexts and create awareness on an oral and written language standard. After this analysis, it follows an examination of studies on this subject by other scholars. In conclusion, we highlight Spanglish as a complex linguistic reality, which we cannot define as a “language”, but it is necessary in the development towards other realities related to identity. For that reason, it deserves our consideration and further researches.

Abstract
For that reason, it deserves our consideration and further researches.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
