Challenging Biomorphic Sensing: the Receptronics Project

Advances in technology have pervaded our lives in the past fifty years, and even more significantly in the last ten years since the introduction of the Information Society. Moreover, the ever-increasing perfection of technological products has made us accustomed to instruments that are increasingly more precise, affordable and secure. We should however note that we would not be able to talk to people around the world with a personal portable device that fits into our top pocket without the past efforts and achievements of hundreds of thousands of researchers working in the field, most of whom are unknown to the general public, and the rich multimedia experience that we enjoy in today’s world of the internet and consumer electronics would not have been possible without the results gained by those teams.
