The aim of this paper is to provide an state of the art of the key issues and methods adopted in computer-mediated discourse research in Spanish. By means of a content analysis of research papers published in scientific journals in Spanish between 1998 and 2014, we aim at identifying, first, the main objectives underlying these papers and, second, the methods and the techniques adopted for the analysis of interactions in the digital environment. The results of this exploratory study, which constitutes a first step of a larger research project (CorpusRedEs), show how the studies on computer-mediated discourse in Spanish have undergone an evolution from the characterization of the so-called "Internet language", throughout the ore or less detailed description of some features in chats, to the analysis of different linguistic and pragmatic phenomena, such as variation, genre characterization, and (im)politeness, in a wider range of digital media.
