In the literature, several methods dealing with the problem of fault location in power distribution system can be found. A possible approach is to use a distributed measurement system which analyzes the transient voltage in many network points. The main drawback of such a solution is the large number of measurement stations required. In this paper an approach combining the use of a distributed measurement system and the wavelet-based analysis of the transient voltages is proposed to tackle this issue. Simulation results show the good performance of the proposed technique.

Abstract
In the literature, several methods dealing with the problem of fault location in power distribution system can be found. A possible approach is to use a distributed measurement system which analyzes the transient voltage in many network points. The main drawback of such a solution is the large number of measurement stations required. In this paper an approach combining the use of a distributed measurement system and the wavelet-based analysis of the transient voltages is proposed to tackle this issue. Simulation results show the good performance of the proposed technique.File in questo prodotto:
