The study focuses on the evaluation of the cost linked to the enhancement of animal welfare standards (according to EFSA rules) in the pig fattening sector. Differnt scenarios of animal welfare are considered, based on the availability of space and of different kind of floor. Their impacts are analysed at farm and sector levels, including production cost, farm revenue, sector structure and employment. The consequences on the competitivenss of the sector at EU and world level are also considered.
