Chinese Fashion in the Making: Essays, Books and Films

The novelty of the last few years, therefore, is that there is a Chinese fashion. It is new, as every fashion is, and is renewed in its relation with the other fashions in the world. It is not a question of a beginning and even of a “starting over”, as is often said, reducing low-cost and low-quality “made in China” and the “styled in China” concept, in the best of hypotheses, to a curious oxymoron. The particular historical premises of Chinese fashion, however, in an original way mark its process of recognition on the globalized fashion system.
