Le possibilità del pensiero tra libertà politica, sfera pubblica e ricerca della verità: Hannah Arendt e Alasdair MacIntyre a confronto

I claim a reasoned confrontation, however limited to a reduced number of subjects, between MacIntyre’s and Hanna Arendt’s thought to contribute to the understanding of what in the Scottish thinker ́s work should be kept or also valued. In order to do that, I will focus mainly on the reasons why Arendt never accepted that a real or supposed return to any philosophical tradition could solve all the problems brought up by modern subjectivism and perspectivism, summarized in the consideration that modernity was the occasion in which occidental philosophy made a substantive dismissal of common sense also of that action in public sphere that was essential to the Greek Classical thinking, and that is also on the grounds of European comprehension of a politics construed on the deliberative model.
