In 2005 the center right governing majority of the Casa delle Libertà decided once more to reform the electoral law and introduced a proportional law containing a majority bonus to be attributed to the winning coalition. In this article, I briefly analyze the Mattarellum, compare it with the new proportional law and, finally, evaluate the impact and consequences of the new law on the results of the 2006 Italian national elections.
