Aim of the project, inside of which the present work is placed, is a creation of Geographical Information System for the growing monitoring and management based on the integration of different type of data, in term of format and source, and particularly satellite images with different geometrical and spectral resolution (QuickBird and Aster). The creation of a open source system with availability of updated data, could be an useful tool for land use and environmental studies. One the main difficulty in the process is represented of integration of satellite image processing techniques, from which issue qualitative and quantitative information about the studied area. This paper shows the necessary operations for preparation of data to be stored in a GIS, and, in particular, segmentation and classification techniques of remote sensing images
