Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) has recently become the reference signalling scheme for optical networks. This paper focuses on the idea of using GMPLS as a resource allocation scheme in an Optical Packet-Switched (OPS) network scenario. In particular, dynamic wavelength allocation to different traffic flows is discussed and an integer linear programming formulation of this problem is introduced, aiming at reducing the chance of contention events on the output channels by grouping the flows incoming on the same input wavelength and destined to the same output fiber and allocating them to the same output wavelength.

Abstract
Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) has recently become the reference signalling scheme for optical networks. This paper focuses on the idea of using GMPLS as a resource allocation scheme in an Optical Packet-Switched (OPS) network scenario. In particular, dynamic wavelength allocation to different traffic flows is discussed and an integer linear programming formulation of this problem is introduced, aiming at reducing the chance of contention events on the output channels by grouping the flows incoming on the same input wavelength and destined to the same output fiber and allocating them to the same output wavelength.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
