The paper presents a cost based prediction reliability model for the determination of the economic effects of the emissions, e.g. nitrogen oxides (referred to as NOx) and carbon dioxide, in a solid waste incinerator. The proposed model is based on the integration of a failure modes analysis, a reliability prediction analysis and a “magnitudo of consequences” evaluation, which takes inspiration from the large amount of literature studies on the determination of the effects of emissions (the so-called externalities) in thermal treatment facilities. An application of the model is presented and the economic effects of different maintenance policies to system function, its emissions and related costs for the community are quantified.

Abstract
The paper presents a cost based prediction reliability model for the determination of the economic effects of the emissions, e.g. nitrogen oxides (referred to as NOx) and carbon dioxide, in a solid waste incinerator. The proposed model is based on the integration of a failure modes analysis, a reliability prediction analysis and a “magnitudo of consequences” evaluation, which takes inspiration from the large amount of literature studies on the determination of the effects of emissions (the so-called externalities) in thermal treatment facilities. An application of the model is presented and the economic effects of different maintenance policies to system function, its emissions and related costs for the community are quantified.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
