This work proposes a model for classifying in details 38 small wet areas in the province of Bologna which have not been specifically marked in literature so far. This model is based on the territory analysis, on the quantitative test of the water avifauna and on the environmental studies. As far as the territory analysis we have written down an inventory, where we have carried out all wet areas and fully reported water location, extension, height, provenance and management. So as to reckon the avifauna we have consulted the cards of samples taken for hunting during the period 1999-2004 thus stating species, quantity and distribution on the explored areas.
