Patient satisfaction is a way of describing and assessing the level of hospital service from the patient’s point of view. This study looks into the questionnaire currently adopted to measure patient satisfaction in an Italian hospital, completed by a sample of 3726 patients. In particular, we aim to introduce Rasch’s approach to measurement, show how it can help define a variable, that is not directly observable.
