Storage systems are crucial links in supply chain networks, especially for the right flow of material. Any underperformance in order picking can lead to unsatisfactory service and high operational cost for its warehouse. As a consequence managers have to pay particular attention choosing from allocation strategies. Object of this research is the development of a methodology for the determination of the allocation of correlated products. In particular the authors focus on similarity coefficients, clustering algorithms and new allocation strategies. The application of the proposed methodology to a case study is presented obtaining a significant reduction of logistics costs.

Abstract
Storage systems are crucial links in supply chain networks, especially for the right flow of material. Any underperformance in order picking can lead to unsatisfactory service and high operational cost for its warehouse. As a consequence managers have to pay particular attention choosing from allocation strategies. Object of this research is the development of a methodology for the determination of the allocation of correlated products. In particular the authors focus on similarity coefficients, clustering algorithms and new allocation strategies. The application of the proposed methodology to a case study is presented obtaining a significant reduction of logistics costs.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
