The cultural heritage of Sabbioneta: research, documentation and survey

To define and to single out a cultural heritage of outstanding universal value we need to study, analys and compare a property trying to understand its singleness, authenticity and integrity. The historical reaserch and architectonic heritage graphic documentation are a fundamental staging area in the cognition phase to best understand, to outline and definethe effective value of a cultural property. Sabbioneta is a small town surrounded by the fortification of XVI century. Sabbioneta is, mainly, a dream of a Prince – Vespasiano Gonzaga – transformed in a star of stones. Conceived, designed and built up by Vespasiano – man of war – it represent a single and well preserved example of city thought as an image and an idea of Humanism. The reaserch about Sabbioneta aims has been of studying the city, its rules, its models and its building to find out those values that make of outstanding universl value from the point view of history, that represent a masterpiece of human creative genius and exhibit an important evidence of human values of Renaissance culture and development in architecture, art and city planning. The survey, the graphic analysis, the structure study of city plan, as technique construction and building materials knowldge give us indication for a correct comprehension of manifacturing for the best use, preservation and promotion of property.
