The article introduces to the poetry of Bei Dao, one of the most important contemporary Chinese poets and the founder of the journal "Jintian" [Today]. The author argues that the poetical itinerary of Bei Dao elaborates a series of intellectual "distances". Three of them deserve close analysis: a first distance from the language itself, a second one from other singular rationalities, namely love and politics, an finally a third distance in repect with the sphere of literary knowledge.
