The area of applications for radio-frequency identification (RFID) is quickly increasing, especially with the on-going migration of the operating frequencies to the UHF band that is supposed to allow greater interrogation ranges. Nevertheless, the higher the frequency, the stronger the impact of the environment on propagation and on devices radiation properties. Multipath propagation, absorption loss and unwanted interaction between the transponder and the tagged object have been considered and properly analyzed in the present work through electromagnetic and ray-tracing simulation

Abstract
The area of applications for radio-frequency identification (RFID) is quickly increasing, especially with the on-going migration of the operating frequencies to the UHF band that is supposed to allow greater interrogation ranges. Nevertheless, the higher the frequency, the stronger the impact of the environment on propagation and on devices radiation properties. Multipath propagation, absorption loss and unwanted interaction between the transponder and the tagged object have been considered and properly analyzed in the present work through electromagnetic and ray-tracing simulationI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
