Experimental data on temporary anion formation in gas-phase cubane are presented for the first time. The electron transmission spectrum displays resonances at 2.93, 6.44 and 10.4 eV, consistent with the empty level structure supplied by HF and B3LYP calculations. Cubane possesses very large electron-acceptor properties compared with other saturated hydrocarbons. In addition, sharp structures consistent with vibrational excitation are observed at low energy.

Abstract
Experimental data on temporary anion formation in gas-phase cubane are presented for the first time. The electron transmission spectrum displays resonances at 2.93, 6.44 and 10.4 eV, consistent with the empty level structure supplied by HF and B3LYP calculations. Cubane possesses very large electron-acceptor properties compared with other saturated hydrocarbons. In addition, sharp structures consistent with vibrational excitation are observed at low energy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
