Postural instability has a big impact on the quality of life of patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) as it often results in falling, subsequent injury, and increased fear of falling. Although many studies have been performed on balance and posture in PD, the postural instability and dyscontrol associated with this disease still remains a poorly understood phenomenon. The aim of the study is to evaluate how subjects with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and elderly control maintain balance in challenging conditions, such as inclined posture like body leaning that occurs also during the transition from stance to gait.

Abstract
Postural instability has a big impact on the quality of life of patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) as it often results in falling, subsequent injury, and increased fear of falling. Although many studies have been performed on balance and posture in PD, the postural instability and dyscontrol associated with this disease still remains a poorly understood phenomenon. The aim of the study is to evaluate how subjects with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and elderly control maintain balance in challenging conditions, such as inclined posture like body leaning that occurs also during the transition from stance to gait.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
