In this paper I consider the the four most important policy areas that constitute the Industrial Policy at the EU level: competition policy, liberalization and privatization, technology policy, and energy and environmental policies. I argue that only an effective coordination among such policies may provide the incentives to increase the competitiveness of European firms, thus creating the conditions for overcoming the economic crisis.
