To productively and effectively use videogames in educational contexts requires a profound knowledge, which often teachers or students do not have. Knowing what is the right videogame to introduce a specific topic, or what particular issues are approached and how, is crucial in order to use this powerful medium at its best. This is the main reason why videogames have never been identified by the world of education as a valuable and useful tool. EVDB (Educational Videogame Data Base) is a solution for this problem. EVDB is a classification system for videogames that proposes a classification of the contents of the videogames based on educational issues, socio-cultural issues, current affairs, possible therapeutic uses, and links to other media.

Abstract
To productively and effectively use videogames in educational contexts requires a profound knowledge, which often teachers or students do not have. Knowing what is the right videogame to introduce a specific topic, or what particular issues are approached and how, is crucial in order to use this powerful medium at its best. This is the main reason why videogames have never been identified by the world of education as a valuable and useful tool. EVDB (Educational Videogame Data Base) is a solution for this problem. EVDB is a classification system for videogames that proposes a classification of the contents of the videogames based on educational issues, socio-cultural issues, current affairs, possible therapeutic uses, and links to other media.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
