Around 1100 a remarkable innovation took place in Europe: the beginning of the specialised, that is university based, education in law. This was concurrent with the beginning of the great university experience of Bologna (Ascheri, 2000). The origin of the University of Bologna can be conceived both as a postulate and a corollary in relation to the development of the socio-political and cultural “European model” of the Late Middle Ages and Reanissance. In this respect also the diffusion of the theological and philosophical knowledge, having its core in Paris, can be seen as based on the study of jurisprudential principles and methodologies (Bonini, Cavina, 1995). This presentation is extensively based on the work done by the scholars mentioned in the References. This work in turn has been strongly stimulated by the celebrations of the eighteen and ninth Centenaries of our University.
