Thirty-seven canine mammary samples (3 normal mammary glands, 3 fibrocystic mastopathies, 17 benign and 14 malignant tumors) were tested for telomerase assessment by anti-hTERT immunohistochemistry and for telomerase activity by TRAP ELISA. Both techniques produced positive results in hyperplastic normal mammary gland and in atypical duct hyperplasia as well as in benign and malignant tumours. Immunohistochemical positive stain was mainly nucleolar and at a lesser extent nuclear or cytoplasmic. Pearson correlation between TRAP and immunohistochemistry was significant only when nucleolar stain was compared to TRAP results.

Abstract
Thirty-seven canine mammary samples (3 normal mammary glands, 3 fibrocystic mastopathies, 17 benign and 14 malignant tumors) were tested for telomerase assessment by anti-hTERT immunohistochemistry and for telomerase activity by TRAP ELISA. Both techniques produced positive results in hyperplastic normal mammary gland and in atypical duct hyperplasia as well as in benign and malignant tumours. Immunohistochemical positive stain was mainly nucleolar and at a lesser extent nuclear or cytoplasmic. Pearson correlation between TRAP and immunohistochemistry was significant only when nucleolar stain was compared to TRAP results.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
