Aim. This paper evaluates the effects of colloidal oatmeal (derived by Avena Sativa L.) derivates in daily use of some products for skin care on 300 children, during a randomized controlled trial. Methods. All the subjects recruited were randomly allocated to one of five groups. All children used the same product for three months. Results. After 3 months of treatment the cutaneous conditions improved according to the physicians in 201/263 children. Parents increased satisfaction level during the study as their judgement regarding the products was "very good" in 153/263 cases after 2 weeks of treatment and in 201/263 cases after 3 months. Conclusions. These results suggest that colloidal oatmeal products are indicated in daily use of children with mild dermatitis and are useful to cooperate with pharmacological products
