Abstract

The objective of this divulgation projects was to illustrate to high school students the experimental approach to the study of molecular, biochemical, physiological and ecological aspects of environmental pollution monitoring. We employed two kinds of bioindicators, the bioluminescent bacteria and the honeybees, to reveal the presence of various environmental pollutants. Four forms of the scientific high school “N. Copernico”, in Bologna, were involved in the project carried out by the Analytical Chemistry Section of the Department of “Metallurgic Sciences, Electrochemistry and Chemical Techniques” (SMETEC) of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Bologna, in collaboration with INCA (National Interuniversity Consortium “The chemistry for the Environment”).
