Chinese compounds are classified according to the proposal put forth by Bisetto and Scalise (2005): that is attributive, Subordinate and Coordinate. A table with formal properties of compounds is given and finally the so called Headedness principle of Packard (2005) is discussed at leght. Our claim is that (with the exception of V+V constructions for which also a syntactic analysis can be given and the so called Verb-Object constructions) on chinese the head is to the right. Therefore, the position of the head can be considered as a parameter ibn the languages of the world (either to the left or to the right).

Abstract
Chinese compounds are classified according to the proposal put forth by Bisetto and Scalise (2005): that is attributive, Subordinate and Coordinate. A table with formal properties of compounds is given and finally the so called Headedness principle of Packard (2005) is discussed at leght. Our claim is that (with the exception of V+V constructions for which also a syntactic analysis can be given and the so called Verb-Object constructions) on chinese the head is to the right. Therefore, the position of the head can be considered as a parameter ibn the languages of the world (either to the left or to the right).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
