In this paper some results obtained from the ASTER spaceborne data classification will be addressed with particular focusing on the land use and agriculture within an area including the emilia-romagna coastal territory. A particular interest has been dealt to the search, availability and harmonization of ground truth that are necessary in order to train the classification algorithm and verify the results produced by both supervised and unsupervised procedures. A more independent classification processes than possible and its application to the land use monitoring, is the main purpose of the experimentation.
