This paper deals with the evaluation of lightning-induced overvoltages in a typical light-rail DC traction overhead power line. In particular, results provided by a new ad-hoc full-wave formulation are compared with those obtained by classical field-excited transmission line (TL) methods and by the general purpose NEC code based on the Method of Moment. Advantages and disadvantages of the methods are illustrated and discussed. It is shown that the full-wave formulation can be used in a circuit simulator in conjunction with a detailed representation of the light rail feeding system.

Abstract
This paper deals with the evaluation of lightning-induced overvoltages in a typical light-rail DC traction overhead power line. In particular, results provided by a new ad-hoc full-wave formulation are compared with those obtained by classical field-excited transmission line (TL) methods and by the general purpose NEC code based on the Method of Moment. Advantages and disadvantages of the methods are illustrated and discussed. It is shown that the full-wave formulation can be used in a circuit simulator in conjunction with a detailed representation of the light rail feeding system.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
