Coated steel pressure vessels by porcelain enamel offer an innovative industrially solution as regards wear and corrosion resistance, and bactericidal effect of porcelain enamel. A preliminary study has been conducted to evaluate the flexural strength of the composite enamelled steel. Composite enamelled steel specimens were tested by three point bending test, to measure composite enameled steel and porcelain enamel coating Young’s modulus. Two coating techniques have been used: flow coating and electrostatic deposition. The enamels used to produce the coatings were quite similar in compositions, except for colouring and other additives required by the coating technique. Both the enamel composition and the coating technique influenced Young’s modulus of porcelain enamel. By simultaneous recording of applied load and AE (acoustic emission), Load vs Displacement and AE informations vs Diplacement have been monitored. Comparable values of Young’s modulus between steel and porcelain enamel, proves enamel capability to sustain load, as steel.

Abstract
