L'Europa apolitica all'ombra della guerra

The article examines some crucial points related to the international dimension of the Ukrainian crisis and, considering the political factor a pivotal but often neglected element, offers some inferences on the causes of the conflict between Russia and its neighbours. It argues that a lack of diplomatic empathy by most of European statesmen and political lea- ders as well as a process of depoliticization of European poli- tics have been a relevant and destabilizing factor with unfo- reseen consequences. The contingent, provisional nature of European international order has been neglected as well as the fact that major powers treat independence of particular States and peace as subordinate to the preservation of their own sphere of influence and perceived security.
