To investigate extrinsic origins of calcitonin gene-related peptide immunoreactive nerve fibers in the sheep ileum, the retrograde fluorescent tracer Fast Blue was injected into the ileum wall. The distribution of CGPR-IR in fibers and nerve cell bodies in the ileum was also studied. CGRP-IR enteric neurons were morphometrically analysed in myenteric and submucosal plexuses af lambs.
