Abstract
Since the beginnings of modern science the statistical concept of variability has evolved. Galilean science responded to the challenge of variability in natural and social phenomena, deriving scientific theories. Scientific theories, for example the evolutionary theory of natural selection and those of population genetics and quantum physics, were in the beginning statistically based. Scientists learned to deal with variability, discerning underlying macro patterns in apparently micro phenomena.File in questo prodotto:
