A simple and rapid technique for vitellogenin separation and quantification, and its application to Silurus glanis are described. The method seems to be effective in vitellogenin quantification and could be applied to all species for whom a vitellogenin standard is at present not available. Obtained data in Silurus seems to indicate a slight alteration of endocrine milieu of the fish, confirming previous results in carps.
