This paper introduces a pilot study carried out with children in order to design and tune the movement analysis components of MIROR-Body Gesture, a framework for music and dance exploration, based on the "reflexive interaction" paradigm. Analysis is grounded on concepts from Laban Movement Analysis. The pilot study includes recordings of several activities where children perform movements addressing one of the Laban Effort dimension. In particular, this initial study focuses on the Weight dimension. MIROR-Body gesture is one of the three components of the MIROR platform, developed in the EU-ICT project MIROR -Music Interaction Relaying On Reflexion (ICT-Technology-enhanced Learning, 2010-2013).
